Summer Youth Events

Believe it or not, we are now closer to 2022 than 2020. I don’t know about you, but that feels like good news to me. The further away from 2020 I can get, the better!

To me, the 4th of July is like a checkpoint trigger in my mind that signals the second half of the year and the coming of Fall. The fireworks serve as a sort of grand finale of all my excitement for the Summer. Once the smoke clears and I sit in the stressful Independence Day traffic for the next two hours, there’s one sad thought that always comes to mind: “The next holiday is Labor Day”. It’s so easy to move on to the next thing, isn’t it? I was even at the Mall of America on Monday and saw Christmas trees set up! I was so outraged I shouted “No! I’m not ready!” It seems to me that it’s always easier, or more exciting to look forward to the next thing rather than enjoy the blessings God has for today.

Rather than be upset about the eventual end of your favorite season, or wait until the beginning of your favorite one, I’m challenged to enjoy where I’m at today. There is so much God can do if you will give Him today. What can God do with what you have already given up on? I believe one of the ways we can worship God is by letting go of tomorrow and embracing his mercies that are new today. With that in mind, at Youth we are going to make the most out of the sunny summer days we have left. There is still so much fun we’re going to have! If you have a student in 6th-12th grade or know of a student that age, we would love to have them join us at any one of these events!
