Westbrook wants to create a welcoming environment where people feel like they can, belong before they believe all the right things or have all the right answers or have all the right behaviors.
Believing that if we create that kind of community, God’s Spirit will work to draw people to Himself and help all of us grow to be more like Jesus in our character and actions. We want to take those blessings that we receive from God and pass them on to others outside our community.
So we have a high percentage of our regular attenders involved in small groups that meet throughout the week and we are involved in sharing God’s blessings through the Love Inc ministry, feeding school children on weekends, raising money for clean water projects with World Vision, supporting ministries in Europe, Jamaica and Peru and well as other activities to be a blessing to our community and the world.
Kevin Sharpe is the founding pastor and has been in ministry over 30 years working in the areas of youth, small groups, outreach, missions and adult discipleship. Kevin spent three years on staff at Westwood Community Church prior to helping birth Westbrook Community Church.
The church started with a core group recruited from Westwood of 80 people, and started services on September 18, 2011 at the Clover Ridge Elementary School. After three years at the Elementary school, the community made a transition to Southwest Christian High School. After three years at Southwest, the community made another move to Chaska High School, where we are currently meeting.
In August of 2017, the church purchased 25 acres of land at the southwest corner of Engler Blvd and Jonathan Carver Road. In April of 2018 the land was fully paid off. On June 13, 2021 we will hold our first service in our new building. Our building is powerful tool to help us reach our vision and be a blessing to others. We would love for you to join our story as we move into the future.
By receiving all that God wants to give us and giving his blessings away we will create a caring community where all can belong, become like Christ and be a blessing to the world.
We will live out this vision by leading with grace to everyone who we meet and welcoming all people because all people matter to God.
We will rely on the Holy Spirit for growth, direction and ministry, knowing that the goal of spiritual growth is to change to be more like Jesus in our character and actions.
We will focus on being a blessing to the world by compassionately meeting the needs of the lost, the least and those left out of God’s justice, wanting to introduce people to Jesus because he is the hope of the world.
