It is Okay to talk back

God talks to us in so many ways.

The beauty of His creation is evident everywhere. It is not even possible to rate or rank the different aspects of creation. How could anyone even begin to compare the beauty of a sunset; the view from a hilltop overlooking an ocean; the majesty of a mountain vista; the mystery of viewing an underwater world while snorkeling; the peace felt soaking in a bright blue summer sky filled with big, puffy cumulus clouds. Even the view out the back windows of the church are beautiful!

The infinite variety of His creation. There are 60,000 species of beetles. There are 73,000 species of trees. It is estimated that there are over 20,000 species of edible plants. This list alone could contain thousands of items.

The perfect design and functioning of a universe is evident it had a designer. It always follows the laws of physics. The universe measures 93 billion light years across. That is unfathomable.

His love for us. Nothing demonstrates His love for us more than taking human form, performing acts that demonstrated His love, and sacrificing Himself on the cross.

Giving us a written guidebook for living a productive life. It is contained in the Bible. Sixty-six different books written by forty different authors written in 1500 years clearly explain how life works.

God also tells us He wants us to talk back to Him.

We have the Bible to read, reflect upon, and then discuss with Him. We can gain wisdom about how to live a prosperous life.

Conversing in prayer. Prayer is simply having a conversation with God. A person should speak from the heart. During the interchange:

  • Say thanks. Tell God what you appreciate

  • Worship and praise God for who He is

  • Ask for guidance. Express your hopes, desires, fears, and questions

  • Tell God your worries

  • Make requests

  • Listen. How amazing we can hear God’s guidance and inspiration

  • Confess. Now is the time to tell God you acknowledge a short coming and repent for it

Good parents want to talk to their children. They are interested in what is going on in their children’s lives. They want to offer support when needed. They want to experience joy watching their children do well.

The same is true with God. He wants to spend time with us. He is pleased when we spend time with Him.

God tells us He wants a family to share eternity with. That is the whole purpose of creation.

What a miraculous thought to understand that God wants us to talk to Him and that He wants a personal relationship with us. Can there be a better offer anywhere?

We can engage in several short prayers during the day or be like Daniel, in the Old testament, who prayed three times a day.

Do we think it could change our lives if we committed to talking with God?
