Westbrook Community Church is very clear about our foundational value that we want to be a blessing.
We are so happy that we can live this in so many ways.
One aspect of joining a small group is supporting others. Volunteers are needed for various tasks around the church.
We also believe we should provide support for the needy. Why? Because the Bible makes it clear we should.
Luke 3:10,11 records when people asked John the Baptist, “What shall we do?”, he answered, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor.”
Paul, in Romans 15: 26, mentioned how “the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor.”
Pastor Rick Warren states references to the poor are mentioned 2000 times in the Bible.
One project that runs all year is to help drive supplies to people for Loads of Love. Amy Nelson organizes this. Email info@westbrook.cc if you wish to help.
Two annual events are now upon us.
February is the month a snowman is placed in the social area of the church. This snowman has red hearts fastened to it. A supply needed by New Life Family Services is written on the heart. Participants can remove the heart and bring back the item to place next to the snowman. This event runs through February 22nd.
March 21st will see interested participants gathering at Feed My Starving Children which is in Chanhassen. From 12:00-1:45, we will fill boxes of food which are distributed to needy children around the world. This is a fun event. It is a great event to bring friends along. You work in groups filling the boxes. Westbrook also makes a cash donation which pays for the food. Visit fmsc.org/volunteer and enter our join code: 7ZPKDZ to register.
We praise you, God, for the blessings You have given us. We understand that one of the reasons you created us is that we can bless others. Thank you for these opportunities to honor You and fulfill your commission.
