Is Christmas Really Magical?

Cheesy lines from Christmas music, advertising and cards are running through my head as I write this! You know the lines, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year; we need a little Christmas; there must’ve been some magic in that old silk hat they found!” Well, I don’t know about magic, but I do know that Christmas is a special

time of the year. It creates unique opportunities for inviting people to church and other Christian events that otherwise people are more

hesitant to attend. Christmas has the ability to open doors and hearts in a seasonal way like no other holiday time does.

In the coming weeks we are having several unique opportunities for you to do some inviting of people in your life. First of all, on Saturday, December 7th we will be having our annual Westbrook Women’s Christmas Brunch at the church. It will begin at 10:00 am., so arrive a few minutes early to grab a cup of coffee and chat and deliver your contribution to the food. We have a fabulous potluck brunch that we invite you to participate in. And a program

that will bring in the Advent season like no other. This year, we will be having a style show from The Stash, a woman’s boutique clothing store in Waconia using none other than Westbrook female models. Then we will enjoy Christmas music from Megan Onesti, Sarah

Trevathan and Kirs Tewinkel. Finally, Jo Falkenstein will bring a devotional to get your heart in the right place for the busy Advent season.

Be sure to sign up early at the table in the lobby or online. Tickets are $5 and if you want to bring a dish to share, we would appreciate it! This is a time to invite that old classmate, neighbor you’d like to get to know better or co-worker. We will be assigning tables again this year so if you are inviting a guest to be sure to let us know at sign up. So, we can attempt to accommodate requests.

Other upcoming events that are special and opportunities to invite are our Children’s Christmas singing on December 8 and the Christmas Eve Services.
