"I Missed You Guys: Sharing Jesus in Wyoming"

Wow, what a week it’s been! We just got back this afternoon from our 9-day trip to Wyoming for our Mission trip. It was filled with lots of laughter, joy, and catchphrase! This year we had 11 students from Westbrook come, and it was amazing!

For most of us, this would be our second time going out to Riverton and going to these VBS sites, but a few of us were brand new this year. At the beginning, it was filled with a lot of anticipation and nerves, but also excitement to see a lot of these kids return for year 2!

When we first got to Riverton, WY, we began to set up tents for the guys and rooms for the girls and get situated. We started with a night chapel where we got to meet our team that we were going to serve alongside. It was great to rekindle previous relationships and see a lot of the same churches from last year come again.

Over the next week, we would spend a lot of time with our church and do morning devotions together, eat breakfast, pack our lunch, and then get with our site groups to talk about the plan for the day and head out. Going back to the same site was so fun for me! I got to see kids that I hadn't seen in a year, and we picked up right where we left off.  A little boy named Landen, whom I got pretty close with last year, was there again, and the first words he said to me were “I missed you guys, I've been waiting for you to come back,” and that just made me so happy to hear.

We got to hear a lot of stories throughout the week and how students and leaders saw God working and providing for us on this trip. We are a connection to these kids to help them learn and hear about Jesus. Even though we aren’t with these kids all the time, the short time we are there with them can be so impactful. We gave out over 450 gospel bracelets to all the kids at different sites. And over 140 Bibles to kids who wanted them. There is power in that, and we knew Jesus was working through us to these kids.

I’m so happy that Westbrook got the opportunity to go back, and more students wanted to come this year. I continue to pray that the kids that we got to share the good news with continue to find and seek Jesus in their lives. I also pray for all the students who went this year that we can continue to be hungry for the Lord and keep sharing the gospel to people locally!
